This policy explains how the Strawberry Moon Tribune ("Tribune," "we") handles information collected through https://www.strawberrymoontribune.com and any of its sub-pages, including /upload, /streetteam-signup, /subscribe, /magazine, and the admin tools we use to operate the magazine. It applies whether you visit, submit work, join the Street Team, buy an edition, or contact us by email.
| Where | What we collect | Why |
|---|---|---|
Submission form (/upload) |
First name, last name, preferred name, email address, Instagram handle (optional), website URL (optional), type of work, title, short description, and one or more uploaded files. | To review your work for an edition, credit you, contact you about your submission, and publish you if accepted. |
Street Team signup (/streetteam-signup) |
Name, email address, and an optional public welcome note. | To welcome you, send Street Team emails, and (with your consent at signup) display your welcome note on the homepage welcome wall for approximately 30 days. |
Purchase (/subscribe) |
Email address; through Shopify checkout: name, billing and shipping addresses, payment method. | To process the one-time purchase, mail the printed copy (for physical orders), and grant digital reader access to that edition. |
Magazine sign-in (/magazine) |
Email address. We send a magic-link sign-in token to that address. | To confirm you control the email tied to your purchase, without making you set a password. |
| Email replies and support | Whatever you choose to include in your message, including the email address you sent it from. | To answer your question. |
| Type | Notes |
|---|---|
| Standard server logs | IP address, user-agent (browser/OS), referring page, request path, and timestamp. Our hosting provider records these by default. |
| Rate-limit signals | We keep a short-lived record of your IP address when you submit work or sign up, so we can block spam and abuse. These records expire within about an hour. |
| Magic-link tokens | When you ask for a magazine sign-in link, we store a hashed token tied to your email for up to 24 hours. |
| Session cookies | If you sign in to read an edition you’ve purchased, we set a session cookie (smt_sub) so we can recognize you for up to 30 days. The admin tools we use ourselves also set a session cookie. |
| HighLevel contact tags | We periodically check the purchase tag on your HighLevel contact record (cached briefly) so the magazine reader knows whether you bought the edition you’re trying to read. |
We do not run third-party advertising trackers. We do not load Google Analytics, Meta pixels, or similar trackers on the Tribune site. We do not collect biometric data, precise location, or device sensor data. We do not require you to create a password; the magazine reader uses email magic links instead.
We use what we collect to:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We share information only with the small set of vendors that actually run the Tribune for us, and only as needed to deliver the service you asked for:
| Vendor | Role | Data they see |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. (R2 + CDN) | Storage for uploaded submission files and magazine PDFs; CDN delivery. | Uploaded files; request-level metadata. |
| HighLevel / LeadConnector | Contact CRM, email delivery, purchase tagging. | Name, email, submission metadata, purchase state. |
| Shopify | One-time purchase checkout. | Name, billing/shipping address, email, payment method (handled by Shopify and its payment processors — we don’t see your full card number). |
| Hostinger | Web hosting for the Tribune site. | Server logs, files served, form submissions in transit. |
| Print fulfillment partner (to be confirmed) | Prints and ships physical magazines. | Shipping name and address for physical buyers. |
| Google Fonts | Serves the fonts used on the Tribune. | Standard request metadata (IP, user-agent) when your browser loads a font. |
We may also disclose information if required by law, in response to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of the Tribune or others. If the Tribune is ever acquired or merged, your information would transfer to the successor entity under the same protections described here.
We use a small number of first-party cookies:
smt_sub) — set after you click your magic-link, so the magazine reader recognizes you for up to 30 days. Removing this cookie signs you out.Third parties we use (Shopify, HighLevel, Cloudflare) may set their own cookies when their services are loaded. Their cookie practices are described in their own privacy policies. The Tribune does not run advertising cookies or cross-site behavioral trackers.
If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, the GDPR (or its local equivalent) gives you the rights above plus the right to object to processing, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Our legal bases for processing are: consent (Street Team, marketing emails, public welcome notes), contract (fulfilling a purchase, publishing a Submission), legitimate interest (security, anti-abuse, basic analytics from server logs), and legal obligation (tax, accounting).
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we have collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information in that sense. To exercise any right under California law, email us at info@strawberrymoontribune.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Send your request from the email address you used with us, to info@strawberrymoontribune.com. We may need to ask a quick question to verify your identity. We will respond within a reasonable time and at most within the period required by applicable law.
We do our best to protect your information:
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach that materially affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
The Tribune is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it. Between ages 13 and 17, please review our Terms with a parent or guardian before signing up, submitting, or buying.
The Tribune is operated from the United States. If you visit us from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US (and in the regions our vendors operate). By using the site you understand and accept that transfer, subject to your rights described above.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. If the changes are material, we will notify Street Team members and recent buyers by email. Continued use of the site after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
